We’re picking at a deep cut with a callback to our very first episode. Given the current geo-political climate, the themes of dystopian fiction seem to be on the tip of everyone’s tongue. With Jackson having recently finished A Handmaid’s Tale, (at least one of) your hosts had those same themes sitting fresh in the brain. Considering the depth of the topic, it was not difficult to continue where we left off and dig a little deeper into the worlds and words of Orwell, Huxley, and Atwood.
This week, to take your mind off the real world implications of this discussion, here are some things:
This week you should play Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds
So, this is it, the very first post to go with the very first ‘cast. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t excited in all kinds of different ways. This first recording is myself and Daniel discussing dystopian fiction. We cover some of our favourite dystopian works and talk about what makes them effective examples of the genre. This is the first step on what we hope will be a lengthy journey. A journey filled with special guests, topical commentary, video expansions, and a lot of puns.
The “About” section is up. Over the coming weeks the rest of the site should follow. By the new year you should be looking at a vibrant and beautiful webpage, but in the meantime, we’re learning.
A small note, this first ‘cast is being uploaded late on a Friday for scheduling reasons, from now on, they’ll be appearing on Saturdays. Look for the next podcast on October 26th… we’re gonna talk about Pokemans. We’re pretty pumped.
